ToggleMANUU ODL Special Examination Notification for 2019 & 2020 Batches
If you are a Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) student of Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), then this is the day you have been waiting and been waiting to dread for. The notification for Special ODL Mode 6th semiester examinations (April 2026) has been released officially by the University.
Now, this is not your typical notification. For the 2019 and 2020 batches, this is the final barrier between you and your degree. Whether you are clearing your regular papers or your backlogs, this April session is your chance to sit and clear your exam.
In this article, we are going to humanize the notification. No “legalese”. Just the facts, the fees and some “friendly” advices on how to deal with the rest of the process.
Who is this exam meant for?
Let us first confirm that you are eligible before you rush to the portal. As per the notification, this special exam cycle is exclusively for:
2019 Batch: Students who are nearing the brink of maximum residency period and have pending 6th-semester papers
2020 Batch: Regular students of 6th semester or those who have backlogs in this particular semester
Backlog & Improvement Candidates If any of you has failed to clear 6th semester paper in the past or has passed but feels that the marks are not a true reflection of your ability.
It is important to note that this notification specifically targets the 6th Semester. If you have backlogs in the 1st or 2nd semesters, you’ll need to wait for their respective cycles, but for now, the focus is entirely on the final stretch of your undergraduate journey.
Fee Structure Explained
Let’s talk about money. Nobody likes unexpected costs, so it’s best to be prepared. MANUU has kept the fee structure relatively straightforward, but there are different layers depending on what you are applying for.
Based on the official document, here is the breakdown:
Theory Exam Fee: ₹150 per paper.
Practical/Lab Exam Fee (if applicable): ₹150 per paper.
Marks Memo Fee: ₹50 (This is mandatory as it covers the cost of processing your results).
Provisional Certificate Fee: 6th semester is the last semester, so you would need to pay for provisional certificate at this very moment (usually around ₹200 to ₹300 or you can check the auto-calculated amount for your specific student portal login).
Late Fee: Please don’t wait until the last minute. If you miss the first deadline, you will have to pay a ₹100 per day late fee or a flat penalty as per the rules of the university.
*Pro-Tip : The system automatically calculates the fees on the IUMS (Integrated University Management System) portal as soon as you log in and after selecting the papers. So make sure to check the list of papers before hitting the ‘Pay’ button!
Important Dates to Note
The institute usually releases a very detailed date sheet (timetable) only by the month of the exam. But from the notifications we have, we now have the “Golden Window” to register.
Online registration opens: February 2026
Last date to pay backlog exam fee: 8th March, 2026
Exam starts : First/second week of April 2026.
Imagine it’s already April. Do you want to be stressing about a payment that didn’t go through, or do you want to be focused on your Urdu literature or Social Sciences notes? Do yourself a favor and finish the registration this week.

Step-by-Step: How to Register Online
The university has moved away from manual forms. Everything now happens via the MANUU IUMS Portal. Here is how you do it without getting a headache:
- Visit the Portal: Go to the official MANUU DDE website and look for the IUMS Student Login.
- Login Credentials: Enter your Enrollment Number and Password. If you’ve forgotten your password, use the ‘Forgot Password’ link—it actually works!
- Select ‘Examination Form’: Once logged in, navigate to the examination section and select the “Special ODL April 2026” link.
- Paper Selection: This is the most critical part. Select the 6th-semester papers you need to appear for. If you’re a regular student, they should be pre-selected. If you’re a backlog student, be very careful to select the correct subject codes.
- Payment: Pay the fees using a Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking. Do not close the browser until you see the “Payment Successful” message and a transaction ID.
- Print the Receipt: Download the PDF of your application and the payment receipt. You might need these if there’s a discrepancy with your Hall Ticket later.
Why This "Special" Exam Matters?
Distance learning is a marathon and not a sprint. We understand that many of you are holding down jobs, have family responsibilities and other pressures while trying your best to complete your degree programme.
The 6th semester is the last lap. If you clear your exams in April, you will have your results in hand by mid-summer and you can apply for Post-Graduate (MA) courses or even B.Ed programmes for the next academic session. By missing this cycle, you stand to lose a year.
For the 2019 batch, your clock is also ticking. Most distance programmes have a maximum number of years (usually 5 or 6 years) in which you can finish a 3 year degree. This could be your last chance to finish things up before your registration runs out.
Final Thoughts
We understand that it’s exam season and anxiety is at its peak. We know you’re studying from a distance. But we want you to know that the Directorate of Distance Education at MANUU has created this special cycle so that you all can finish and graduate.
Breathe. Sign into the portal and get the paperwork on your plate. Once the form is completed and fee is paid, you can concentrate on your studies.
Wishing all the 2019 & 2020 batches good luck. Let’s aim to complete the degree in April 2026.
